Sofia MENAR fest screening Iran’s ‘Local Anesthesia’

The Sofia MENAR Film Festival in Bulgaria is screening Iranian feature ‘Local Anesthesia’.

Iranian feature ‘Local Anesthesia’ has been selected to go on screen at the 13th edition of the Sofia MENAR Film Festival (SMFF) in Bulgaria.

Directed by Hossein Mahkam and produced by Habib Rezaee, the movie is about Jalal, an unproductive writer who is suffering from a heavy mental pressure.

He finds out about a change in his sister’s life. The change was brought to Mary’s life by a man named Shahrokh.

Discovering the fact that his sister will soon marry Shahrokh and leave him, Jalal leaves the house and spends the night with his guitarist friend Bahman and a strange taxi driver named Nasser.

The common feature among the three of them is that they are in a state of local anesthesia. However, some strange events are on the way while everything seems calm.

The cast of the film includes Habib Rezaee, Baran Kosari, Parsa Pirouzfar, Hassan Majouni, and Soheil Mostajabian.

The SMFF presents the best films, documentaries and short films of the Middle East, Central Asia and North Africa.

The 2021 edition of the Bulgarian festival is slated for January 15-31.

This edition of the SMFF will also screen ‘The Other’, ‘A Hairy Tale’, ‘Dance with Me’, ‘Just 6.5’, ‘The Warden’, ‘Forty Seven’, ‘When the Moon Was Full’, ‘The Badger’, and ‘Sophomore Year of My School’, all from Iran.
